UpCountry Brewing started in 2016 by John Cochran, referred to as a craft beer industry veteran since the nineties. UpCountry Brewing is a taproom, brewery and a music venue that you may find at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville. We like to state that we brew our beer in "West, West Asheville," as it's the brewery located furthest west prior to leaving Beer City itself.
UpCountry Brewing offers numerous types of beer styles, including saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts, and more. With twenty of its own beers on tap, the brew house is consistently thinking about and creating new beers for Asheville to enjoy. UpCountry offers flights, goblets, pints, and even a twenty-two ounce pour in the taproom. In addition, the brewery has beer to go for purchase! Beer to go features a growler with your choice of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. On Thursdays, UpCountry will host the pint night with a unique glass which will be changed every week. Consumers buy a featured beer and get to keep the glass, with ten percent of that beer's sales going towards the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is absolutely important and the pint nights can be an excellent method to give back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is always supporting local art and music in Asheville and the surrounding areas like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist monthly with Bad Craft, an artist shop positioned in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery showcases one artist each month to display their artwork in UpCountry's taproom for display as well as for purchase. Apart from a month long campaign, every artist will get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month can show and discuss their work and a pint glass feature the work of the artist can be available. We like to host solo musicians such as Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We even host those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. These include bands like Phuncle Sam, The Paper Crowns, and The Dirty Dead. Other bands that we love to host include The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
Apart from hosting live music, it's already known that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery has been known for live streaming music, but it's extra attention to when Phish plays. They typically pull down the big projector screen to stream each show and clear out the chairs and tables in the music room so that Asheville can dance it out! Other live streams the brewery is recognized for include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry will invariably encourage Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy brews and boogie.

UpCountry's latest logo re-design has been highly rated thanks to friends at Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg did an incredible job in designing the labeling artwork for Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, UpCo Mountain Lager and Hop Dread. There are a lot of canning designs on the way so you must stay tuned.
If you do not have any idea yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is really a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. You must keep an eye out because Cochran will absolutely wear his jersey.
