UpCountry Brewing started by John Cochran in 2016 and he is popularly referred to as among the best in the craft beer industry since 1990's. John actually worked alongside beer-related jobs in his twenty years in brewing and he is very excited to return to his roots by providing a small, local brewery centering on fun times, wonderful beers and good friends. UpCountry Brewing may be found at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and it's a brewery, taproom and also a music venue.
UpCountry Brewing may offer plenty of beer styles, that will include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and more. With approximately 20 of its own beers on tap, the brew house is considering making new beers for everyone to enjoy. UpCountry Brewing may offer goblets, pints, flights and a 22-ounce pour in the taproom. Furthermore, the brewery has beer to go for purchase! Beer to go features a growler with your preference of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Together with availability in the taproom, UpCountry's beer may be found all over town in several grocery stores, bottle shops, and bars in Asheville, including towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding places.
We've got our extensive beer list that's perfect for beer nerds everywhere. We value creativity and daring recipes along with those go-to, easy drinking styles that anyone can enjoy. We've got been infusing some of our brews with different syrups and flavors which will provide an additional creative kick. The brewery also contains a Randall for infusions and also a pilot brew system to take the brewing a step further. We're all about experimenting and seeing what deliciousness we can create using the knowledge from each brewer!
Together with providing delicious beer, UpCountry has red and white wines along with a full liquor bar of whiskey, vodka, gin, tequila, and other spirits for everyone to enjoy. We've got selections for everyone so you do not have to be a hard core beer expert to be able to enjoy our alcohol. Together with liquor, UpCountry offers craft signature cocktails that rotate throughout the year based on the season.
Apart from brewing and selling beer, UpCountry can offer a full food menu that features appetizers, burgers, pizzas, salads, soups, hot dogs and meals for dogs. We've got dessert selections for the sweet tooths out there, too! Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Even if you are actually on a diet, we are going to do everything to accommodate you. We've got plenty of selections for the whole family, along with kid-friendly and dog friendly menu for friends and family to enjoy.
When you've worked up an appetite hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the ideal place to meet up with friends or family and satisfy your hunger. After you eat your dinner, lunch or snack, you may always try our corn hole and other activities scheduled at the brewery. Apart from live music, we have got a yoga class during Sunday, music bingo on Wednesday and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Each month, UpCountry chooses a different local nonprofit to represent their 'Miracle Pint Night' each Thursday. UpCountry already worked several organizations like Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry will host the pint night with a unique glass which will be changed every week. Consumers will surely buy a featured beer and they can keep the glass. The 10 percent of the sales will be going to the nonprofit orgs. At UpCountry, community is important, and these pint nights are only one method for the brewery to provide back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is definitely supporting local art and music in Asheville and all the surrounding places like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
UpCountry always hosts a local artist monthly along with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will be exhibiting one artist a month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for purchase and display. Together with a month long campaign, each artists gets a designated Pint Night at the brewery along with at Bad Craft. The artist of the month is there and able to discuss their work, and a pint glass featuring the artist's work is available for purchase. UpCountry will invariably value the support of local music, art and beer and they're going to continue to support all of these. Community and business relationships are incredibly important to UpCountry's owner, John Cochran, along with the UpCountry staff, so the brewery looks forward to continue Pint Nights like these to support!
UpCountry brewing is always proud to offer live, local music on a nightly basis. Once you've taken the friends and family to the tourist spots like Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, bring them down to UpCountry for an intimate night of Bluegrass, Open Mic, Music Bingo, or live local music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. We love hosting solo musicians like Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We're even hosting those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. These include bands like Phuncle Sam, The Paper Crowns, and The Dirty Dead. Other bands that we love to host include The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
Apart from live music, it's not a secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery is well-known for live streaming music, but is extra attentive to when Phish plays. They generally pull down the huge projector screen to stream each show and clear out the chairs and tables in the music room so that Asheville can dance it out! Other live streams the brewery is definitely recognized for would include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry motivates Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

We offer all our music with no cover charge. UpCountry does not want to limit the live music to have a cover charge, which is the reason why our events are free to public.

UpCountry Brewing values being family and kid friendly. We've got a huge outdoor patio space with games that are made for children and also a cornhole set for the whole family to enjoy. Our patio along with courtyard are also dog friendly.
At UpCountry Brewing, we always believe that beer and outdoors are connected. UpCountry Brewing always focus on the outdoor activities that Asheville can offer from floating down the river to climbing the mountain trail. Lots of Asheville residents and visitors love to stay at our outdoor space.

UpCountry Brewing values being that brewery nested in West Asheville for locals to enjoy along with a stop right off of Interstate 40 for tourists and visitors. It is located on Haywood Road in West Asheville and it's surrounded by thousands of neighbors and are incredibly proud to be their "neighborhood bar" for parties, gatherings or simply having beer with friends.
You're undoubtedly considering UpCountry when you exited Highway 26 and you are coming up Patton, but you have to think of it when you need a cold, craft beer. We're just right across The Odditorium, which a location in West Asheville that you have to never miss after or before you decide to come to our place.
For tourists or just for those passing through, UpCountry offers a welcoming and personable experience. We've got a friendly and certified staff so we all know everything about beer. We've got our beer-tenders that may provide suggestions based on the type of beer that you would like. After all, you did venture to the Beer City Capital of the United States!
UpCountry Brewing can offer beer tours by special request and you may check our website for this. Along with beer tastings and a tour of the new taproom, you may get a guided tour of the brew house and a crash course on how you may make and produce beer. Together with the beer making process, you'll determine what UpCountry's equipment does, and how each beer is brewed, from the recipe invention to kegging out the finished product in either cans or kegs.

Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design have been the best and it's all thanks to Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done an exceptional job with developing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are several more canning designs on the way, so stay tuned for what UpCountry and Good Beer Hunting come up with!
For those who don't know, UpCountry Brewing's owner, John Cochran, is a DAWG Alum! UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Keep an eye out, because Cochran will wear his jersey.
