UpCountry Brewing started by John Cochran in 2016 and he is popularly known as one of the best in the craft beer industry since nineteen nineties. John worked with beer-related jobs within his twenty years in brewing and he is quite excited to go back to his roots and offer a local brewery centering on great beers, good friends and fun times. UpCountry Brewing is presently found at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and this is a tap room, brewery and a music venue.
UpCountry Brewing can offer a range of beer styles, which would include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and much more. We have over 20 types of beers on tap and we are still looking to create new beers that everyone will definitely enjoy. UpCountry offers flights, goblets, pints, and even a twenty-two ounce pour in the taproom. Additionally, the brewery has beer to go for purchase! Beer to go features a growler with your preference of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Together with availability in the taproom, UpCountry's beer can be found all over town in several grocery stores, bottle shops, and bars in Asheville, including towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding places.
We have our extensive beer list that is suitable for beer nerds everywhere. We value creativity and daring recipes along with those go-to, easy drinking styles that any individual can enjoy. We've lately been infusing some of our brews with several syrups and flavors for an extra creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions and a pilot brew system to help take the brewing a step further. We're centering on experimentation and seeing the deliciousness that we can create using the knowledge from every brewer.
Together with providing delicious beer, UpCountry has red and white wines along with a full liquor bar of whiskey, vodka, gin, tequila, and other spirits for everyone to enjoy. We have selections for everyone so you do not have to be a hard-core beer lover in order to enjoy our alcohol. Together with liquor, UpCountry offers craft signature cocktails that rotate throughout the year according to the season.
Aside from brewing and selling beer, UpCountry can offer a full food menu that features appetizers, burgers, pizzas, salads, soups, hot dogs and meals for dogs. We even have dessert selections for the folks who love sweets. Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Even when you're actually on a diet, we will do everything to accommodate you. We have tons of selections for the entire family and we are kid and dog friendly that you could enjoy.
Once you have worked up an appetite by hiking at the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the best place to talk with your friends and satisfy your hunger. After eating your dinner, lunch or snack, you could try the corn hole or other activities that we've got scheduled at the brewery. Together with live music, we host a yoga class on Sunday mornings, music bingo on Wednesdays, and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Each month, UpCountry could be selecting a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry absolutely worked with different organizations before like Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry could be hosting the pint night with a unique glass which will change every week. Customers will definitely buy a featured beer and they can keep the glass. The ten percent of the sales could be going to the nonprofit orgs. At UpCountry, community is important, and these pint nights are just one way for the brewery to give back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is definitely supporting local art and music in Asheville and all the surrounding places for example Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
UpCountry always hosts a local artist monthly together with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery could be exhibiting one artist a month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for purchase and display. Aside from the month long campaign, the artist will also get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month can display and discuss their work and a pint glass feature the work of the artist could be available. UpCountry will invariably support the local music, art and beer in the area and will continue doing this in the future. Community and business relationships are important for John Cochran, the owner of UpCountry, together with the support of the staff so the brewery will invariably look ahead to continue the Pint Nights.
UpCountry brewing is proud to offer live, local music almost every night. Once you've taken the friends and family to the tourist spots like Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, bring them down to UpCountry for an intimate night of Bluegrass, Open Mic, Music Bingo, or live local music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. We like to host solo musicians for example Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We also love hosting those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes! It'll include several bands for example The Paper Crowns, The Dirty Dead and Phuncle Sam. We also have other bands that we love to host like The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
Apart from hosting live music, it's already known that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery has been known for live streaming music, but it's extra attention to when Phish plays. They usually pull down the huge projector screen to stream each show and clear out the chairs and tables in the music room so that Asheville can dance it out! Other live streams the brewery is definitely known for would include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry encourages Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

UpCountry Brewing values being family and kid friendly. We have a huge outdoor patio space with games for the kiddos along with a cornhole set for family and friends to enjoy. Our patio along with courtyard are also dog friendly.

Situated on Haywood Road in West Asheville, we are surrounded by thousands of neighbors and are proud to be their 'neighborhood bar' for parties, huge gatherings, or simply having a beer with friends.

Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design have been the best and it's all thanks to Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done a phenomenal job with developing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are several more canning designs on the way, so stay tuned for what UpCountry and Good Beer Hunting come up with!
For those who do not know, UpCountry Brewing's owner, John Cochran, is a DAWG Alum! UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Keep an eye out, because Cochran will wear his jersey.
