UpCountry Brewing started by John Cochran in 2016 and he is popularly known as one of the best in the craft beer industry since nineteen nineties. John actually worked alongside beer-related jobs in his twenty years in brewing and he is extremely excited to return to his roots by providing a small, local brewery centering on fun times, great beers and good friends. UpCountry Brewing is currently found at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and this is a tap room, brewery and a music venue.
UpCountry Brewing can offer a range of beer styles, which would include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and much more. With approximately 20 of its own beers on tap, the brew house is thinking about making new beers for everyone to enjoy. UpCountry Brewing can offer goblets, pints, flights and a 22-ounce pour in the taproom. Furthermore, the brewery has beer to go for purchase! Beer to go features a growler with your preference of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Together with availability in the taproom, UpCountry's beer can be found all over town in several grocery stores, bottle shops, and bars in Asheville, including towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding places.
We have got our extensive beer list that's perfect for beer nerds everywhere. We value creativity and daring recipes along with those go-to, easy drinking styles that any person can enjoy. We're infusing some of our brews with several syrups and flavors that could offer an additional creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions, along with a pilot brew system to take brewing an additional step further. We're all about experimenting and seeing what deliciousness we can produce using the knowledge from each brewer!
Together with providing delicious beer, UpCountry has red and white wines along with a full liquor bar of whiskey, vodka, gin, tequila, and other spirits for everyone to enjoy. You do not have to be a full-on beer lover to enjoy alcohol at our place-we've got selections for everyone! Together with liquor, UpCountry offers craft signature cocktails that rotate throughout the year according to the season.
Together with brewing and selling delicious beer, UpCountry offers a full food menu featuring appetizers, pizzas, burgers, salads, hot dogs, soups, and even meals for dogs. We even have dessert selections for the folks who love sweets. Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Even if you are actually on a diet, we're going to do everything to accommodate you. We have got a lot selections for the entire family and we even have kid-friendly and dog-friendly meals.
When you have worked up an appetite hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the ideal place to connect to family or friends and satisfy your hunger. After you eat your dinner, lunch or snack, you may always try our corn hole and other activities scheduled at the brewery. Together with live music, we host a yoga class on Sunday mornings, music bingo on Wednesdays, and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Every month, UpCountry could be choosing a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry has worked with organizations for example Friends of the Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry could be hosting the pint night with a unique glass that can change every week. Customers will surely buy a featured beer and they could keep the glass. The ten percent of the sales could be going to the nonprofit organizations. At UpCountry, community is important, and these pint nights are only one method for the brewery to provide back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is always supporting local art and music in Asheville and the surrounding places like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist of the month with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will show off one artist each month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for display and purchase. Together with a month long campaign, each artists gets a designated Pint Night at the brewery along with at Bad Craft. The artist of the month can show and discuss their work and a pint glass feature the work of the artist could be available. UpCountry values the support of local art, music, and beer, and will continue to exhibit their support for all of these avenues of Asheville. Community and business relationships are really important to UpCountry's owner, John Cochran, along with the UpCountry staff, so the brewery anticipates continue Pint Nights like these to support!
UpCountry brewing is always proud to offer live, local music on a nightly basis. Once you've taken the friends and family to the tourist spots like Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, bring them down to UpCountry for an intimate night of Bluegrass, Open Mic, Music Bingo, or live local music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. We like to host solo musicians for example Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We even host those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. It will include several bands for example The Paper Crowns, The Dirty Dead and Phuncle Sam. We're also hosting other bands like Mama Danger, Cat and Crow, Astral Plainsmen, Sirius B., The Dirty Badgers, The Junk Drawer, The Free Wheelin' Mamas, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Moonlight Street Folk and more.
Apart from live music, it's not a secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery is well-known for live streaming music, but is extra attentive to when Phish plays. They pull down the huge projector screen to stream the show and clear the chairs and tables in the music room so everyone can dance. Other live streams the brewery is known for include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry motivates Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

All of our music may have no cover charge. UpCountry does not want to limit live music to having a cover charge, which is why all of our events are free to the public.

Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design is the ideal thanks to the Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg did an excellent job in developing the labeling artwork for Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, UpCo Mountain Lager and Hop Dread. You should stay tuned because there are several more canning designs which are on the way.
For those who do not know, UpCountry Brewing's owner, John Cochran, is a DAWG Alum! UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Keep an eye out, because Cochran will wear his jersey.
