UpCountry Brewing started in 2016 by John Cochran and he is known in the craft beer industry since nineties. John actually dealt with beer-related jobs in his 20 years in brewing and he is quite thrilled to return to his roots by offering a small, local brewery centering on fun times, great beers and buddies. UpCountry Brewing is now located at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and it is a tap room, music venue and a brewery.
UpCountry Brewing can provide a range of beer styles, which will include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and many more. With approximately 20 of its own beers on tap, the brew house is thinking about making new beers for everyone to enjoy. UpCountry Brewing can provide flights, pints, goblets and also a 22-once pour in the taproom. Also, the brewery has beer to go ready for purchase. Beer to go would include a growler with your preference of beer or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Together with availability in the taproom, UpCountry's beer can be found all over town in several grocery stores, bottle shops, and bars in Asheville, including towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding places.
We also have our extensive beer list that's the best for beer nerds everywhere. We value creativity above all else along with daring recipes that everyone will undoubtedly enjoy. We've recently been infusing some of our brews with several syrups and flavors for an extra creative kick. The brewery also includes a Randall for infusions and also a pilot brew system to take the brewing a step further. We are centering on experimentation and seeing the deliciousness that we can produce using the knowledge from every brewer.
Together with offering delicious beer, UpCountry has red and white wines along with a full liquor bar of whiskey, vodka, gin, tequila, and other spirits for everyone to enjoy. You do not have to be a full on beer lover to enjoy alcohol at our place-we've got choices for everyone! Together with liquor, UpCountry offers craft signature cocktails that rotate throughout the year based on the season.
Aside from selling and brewing beer, UpCountry may also give you a full food menu that would include appetizers, pizzas, salads, soups, hotdogs, burgers and also meals for dogs. We also have dessert choices for the sweet tooths out there, too! Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Whatever your dietary restrictions, we'll do our best to accommodate you! We have plenty of choices for the whole family, along with kid-friendly and dog friendly menu for friends and family to enjoy.
When you've worked up an appetite hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the ideal place to meet up with friends or family and satisfy your hunger. After consuming your lunch, dinner, or snack, enjoy corn hole or one of the many activities we have got scheduled at the brewery. Aside from live music, we have got a yoga class during Sunday, music bingo on Wednesday and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Every month, UpCountry can pick a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry undoubtedly worked with different organizations before like Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry hosts the pint night with a unique glass that varies week by week. Customers can buy a featured beer and they can also keep the glass, with 10 percent profit going to the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is important, and these pint nights are just one way for the brewery to provide back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is really supporting local art and music in Asheville and all the surrounding places such as Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist of the month with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will be exhibiting one artist a month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for purchase and display. Aside from the month long campaign, the artist can also get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month can present and discuss their work and a pint glass feature the work of the artist will be available. UpCountry will invariably support the local music, art and beer in the area and will carry on doing this in the foreseeable future. Community and business relationships are really important to UpCountry's owner, John Cochran, along with the UpCountry staff, so the brewery anticipates continue Pint Nights like these to support!
UpCountry brewing is always proud to offer live, local music on a nightly basis. If you'll take your friends and family members to tourist spots such as Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, you can always bring them to UpCountry for a night of Bluegrass, Music bingo, Open Mic, and live local music. We like to host solo musicians such as Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We even host those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. It'll include several bands such as The Paper Crowns, The Dirty Dead and Phuncle Sam. We also have other bands that we love to host like The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
Aside from hosting live music, it is already known that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery has been known for live streaming music, but it is extra attention to when Phish plays. They usually pull down the huge projector screen to stream each show and clear out the chairs and tables in the music room so that Asheville can dance it out! Other live streams the brewery is really noted for would include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry will invariably encourage Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy brews and boogie.

We offer all of our music with NO cover charge. UpCountry does not want to limit live music to having a cover charge, which is why all of our events are free to the public.

UpCountry Brewing values being family and kid friendly. We have a huge outdoor patio space with games that are made for kids and also a cornhole set for the whole family to enjoy. Our patio and courtyard are dog friendly, so bring the pup too!
At UpCountry Brewing, we always think that beer and outdoors are connected. UpCountry Brewing always pay attention to the outdoor activities that Asheville can provide from floating down the river to climbing the mountain trail. A lot of Asheville residents and visitors love to stay at our outdoor space.

UpCountry Brewing values being that brewery nested in West Asheville for locals to enjoy along with a stop right off of Interstate 40 for tourists and visitors. It's situated on Haywood Road in West Asheville and it is surrounded by thousands of neighbors and are really proud to be their "neighborhood bar" for parties, gatherings or simply having beer with friends.
Think of UpCountry when you have exited Highway 26 and you're coming up Patton... but particularly think of UpCountry when you're craving a cold, craft beer. We are just right across The Odditorium, which a place in West Asheville that you need to never miss after or before you come to our place.
For the folks who are only passing through, UpCountry can provide a welcoming and personable experience. We have a friendly and certified staff so we all know everything about beer. We also have beer-tenders which could offer suggestions based on the type of beer that you're trying to find. After all, you did venture to the Beer City Capital of the United States!
UpCountry Brewing may offer beer tours by special request and you can look at our website for information. Aside from beer tastings and a tour in the new taproom, you'll be able to get a guided tour of the brew house and a crash course about how to make and produce beer. Together with the beer making process, you'll determine what UpCountry's equipment does, and how each beer is brewed, from the recipe invention to kegging out the finished product in either cans or kegs.

Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design has been top notch thanks to friends at Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg did a terrific job in developing the labeling artwork for Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, UpCo Mountain Lager and Hop Dread. You should stay tuned because there are several more canning designs that are on the way.
If you don't have any idea yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is really a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Keep an eye out, because Cochran will wear his jersey.
