UpCountry Brewing started in 2016 by John Cochran and he is known in the craft beer industry since 1990s. UpCountry Brewing offers a number of beer styles, including saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts, and more. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions, along with a pilot brew system to take brewing an additional step further. We're all about experimenting and seeing what deliciousness we can create using the knowledge from each brewer!

Together with providing delicious beer, UpCountry has red and white wines along with a full liquor bar of whiskey, vodka, gin, tequila, and other spirits for everyone to enjoy. You don't need to be a hard core beer expert in order to enjoy our alcohol since we've got choices for everyone. Aside from liquor, UpCountry will offer signature cocktails that may rotate throughout the year based on the season.

Food

Together with brewing and selling delicious beer, UpCountry offers a full food menu featuring appetizers, pizzas, burgers, salads, hot dogs, soups, and even meals for dogs. We've got dessert choices for the sweet tooths out there, too! Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Whatever your dietary restrictions, we are going to do our best to accommodate you! We have plenty of choices for the whole family, along with kid-friendly and dog friendly menu for friends and family to enjoy.

When you have worked up an appetite hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the ideal place to interact with family or friends and satisfy your hunger. After eating your dinner, lunch or snack, you can try the corn hole or other activities that we've got scheduled at the brewery. Aside from live music, we've got a yoga class during Sunday, music bingo on Wednesday and local pint nights on Thursdays.

Community

Each month, UpCountry can choose a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry definitely worked with different organizations before like Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry hosts the pint night with a unique glass that varies week by week. Consumers will certainly buy a featured beer and they can keep the glass. The ten percent of the sales could be going to the nonprofit orgs. At UpCountry, community is absolutely important and these pint nights could be a method for the brewery to provide back.

Local Art And Music

UpCountry Brewing is always supporting local art and music in Asheville and the surrounding places like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.

UpCountry always hosts a local artist monthly together with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery could be featuring one artist a month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for purchase and display. Together with a month long campaign, each artists gets a designated Pint Night at the brewery along with at Bad Craft. The artist of the month can present and also discuss their work along a pint glass featuring the work of the artist. UpCountry will always value the support of local music, art and beer and they will continue to support all of these. Community and business relationships are important for John Cochran, the owner of UpCountry, together with the support of the staff so the brewery will always look ahead to continue the Pint Nights.

Music

UpCountry brewing is proud to provide live, local music every night. If you are going to take your friends and family members to tourist spots like Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, you can always bring them to UpCountry for a night of Bluegrass, Music bingo, Open Mic, and live local music. We are always proud to host solo musicians like Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We even host those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. It will include several bands like The Paper Crowns, The Dirty Dead and Phuncle Sam. Other bands that we love to host include The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.

Together with hosting live music, it's no secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans! The brewery is well-known for live streaming music, but is extra attentive to when Phish plays. They typically pull down the huge projector screen to stream each show and clear out the chairs and tables in the music room so that Asheville can dance it out! Other live streams the brewery is noted for include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry will always encourage Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy brews and boogie.

We offer all of our music with NO cover charge. UpCountry doesn't want to limit live music to having a cover charge, which is why all of our events are free to the public.

UpCountry Brewing values being family and kid friendly. We have a massive outdoor patio space with games for the kiddos along with a cornhole set for family and friends to enjoy. Our patio and courtyard are dog friendly, so bring the pup too!

At UpCountry Brewing, we always think that beer and outdoors are related. UpCountry values the outdoor activities that Asheville has to offer, everything from floating down the river to tackling a strenuous mountain trail. Good Beer Hunting

UpCountry's latest logo re-design have been the best and it is all thanks to Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg did a great job in developing the labeling artwork for Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, UpCo Mountain Lager and Hop Dread. You need to stay tuned since there are several more canning designs that are on the way.

Georgia Bulldogs

If you don't have any idea yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is really a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Keep an eye out, because Cochran will wear his jersey.
