UpCountry Brewing started by John Cochran in 2016 and he is popularly referred to as one of the best in the craft beer industry since 1990's. John actually worked with beer-related jobs in his 20 years in brewing and he is quite excited to go back to his roots by offering a small, local brewery centering on fun times, wonderful beers and good friends. UpCountry Brewing may be found at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and it is a brewery, taproom and also a music venue.
UpCountry Brewing offers a wide variety of beer styles, including saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts, and more. With twenty of its own beers on tap, the brew house is consistently thinking about and making new beers for Asheville to enjoy. UpCountry Brewing will offer flights, pints, goblets and also a 22-once pour in the taproom. Also, the brewery has beer to go ready for purchase. Beer to go would include a growler with your preference of beer or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Our extensive beer list is perfect for beer nerds everywhere. We always value creativity and daring recipes along with those go-to, easy drinking styles that everyone would enjoy. We have been infusing some of our brews with various syrups and flavors that could offer an extra creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions and a pilot brew system to help take the brewing one step further. We are centering on experimentation and seeing the deliciousness that we can produce using the knowledge from every brewer.
Together with offering delicious beer, UpCountry has red and white wines along with a full liquor bar of whiskey, vodka, gin, tequila, and other spirits for everyone to enjoy. You don't need to be a full on beer expert in order to enjoy our alcohol since we've got choices for everyone. Apart from liquor, UpCountry can also offer signature cocktails that could rotate throughout the year based on the season.
Together with brewing and selling delicious beer, UpCountry offers a full food menu featuring appetizers, pizzas, burgers, salads, hot dogs, soups, and even meals for dogs. We even have dessert choices for the folks who love sweets. Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Whatever your dietary restrictions, we'll do our best to accommodate you! We have a lot of choices for the entire family and we're kid and dog friendly that you can enjoy.
When you have worked up an appetite hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the ideal place to interact with family or friends and satisfy your hunger. After devouring your lunch, dinner, or snack, enjoy corn hole or one of the many activities we've got scheduled at the brewery. Together with live music, we host a yoga class on Sunday mornings, music bingo on Wednesdays, and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Each month, UpCountry can pick a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry already worked several organizations including Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry can be hosting the pint night with a unique glass that could change every week. Consumers will certainly buy a featured beer and they could keep the glass. The 10 percent of the sales can be going to the nonprofit organizations. At UpCountry, community is important, and these pint nights are just one way for the brewery to give back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing helps local art and music in Asheville and close, surrounding places, including Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist of the month with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery can be exhibiting one artist a month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for purchase and display. Apart from the month long campaign, the artist will also get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month can present and also discuss their work along a pint glass featuring the work of the artist. UpCountry will always value the support of local music, art and beer and they will continue to support all of these. Community and business relationships are really important to UpCountry's owner, John Cochran, along with the UpCountry staff, so the brewery anticipates continue Pint Nights like these to support!
UpCountry brewing is proud to provide live, local music every night. If you'll take your friends and family members to tourist spots including Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, you can always bring them to UpCountry for a night of Bluegrass, Music bingo, Open Mic, and live local music. We love hosting solo musicians like Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We are even hosting those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. It will include different bands including The Dirty Dead, The Paper Crowns and Phuncle Sam. Other bands that we love to host include The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
Together with hosting live music, it's no secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans! The brewery has been known for live streaming music, but it is extra attention to when Phish plays. They usually pull down the huge projector screen to stream each show and clear out the chairs and tables in the music room so that Asheville can dance it out! The other known live streams that the brewery is centering on are Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry motivates Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

All of our music will have no cover charge. UpCountry does not want to limit live music to having a cover charge, which is why all of our events are free to the public.

UpCountry Brewing is recognized for being family and kid friendly. We have a huge outdoor patio space with games intended for kids and a cornhole set for family and friends to enjoy. Our patio along with courtyard are also dog friendly.
At UpCountry Brewing, we always believe that beer and outdoors are associated. UpCountry values the outdoor activities that Asheville has to offer, anything from floating down the river to tackling a strenuous mountain trail. Lots of Asheville residents and visitors love to stay at our outdoor space.

Located on Haywood Road in West Asheville, we're surrounded by thousands of neighbors and are proud to be their 'neighborhood bar' for parties, huge gatherings, or simply having a beer with friends.
You must think of UpCountry once you have exited Highway 26 and you coming up to Patton, but you should think of UpCountry when you're looking for the best beer. We are just right across The Odditorium, which is a West Asheville staple that you can visit before or after you come to our place.
For those who are just passing through, UpCountry can give you a welcoming and personable experience. We have friendly and knowledgeable staff so we all know all about beer. Our beer-tenders are able to offer suggestions based on the types of beer you and your friends enjoy. After all, you did venture to the Beer City Capital of the United States!
UpCountry Brewing will offer beer tours by special request and you can check our website for this. Apart from beer tastings and a tour in the new taproom, you'll be able to get a guided tour of the brew house and a crash course on how to make and produce beer. Together with the beer making process, you'll determine what UpCountry's equipment does, and how each beer is brewed, from the recipe invention to kegging out the finished product in either cans or kegs.

Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design has been first class thanks to friends at Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done a phenomenal job with developing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are several more canning designs on the way, so stay tuned for what UpCountry and Good Beer Hunting come up with!
If you don't know yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. You must keep an eye out because Cochran will certainly wear his jersey.

UpCountry already made an appearance at several festivals like Burning Can, Asheville Beer Festival, Oktoberfest, Beer City Festival, Battle of the Burger, Brewgrass, Asheville Beer Expo, and more. UpCountry will always participate in anything that could allow the folks to try out our delicious beer.
