UpCountry Brewing started in 2016 by John Cochran and he is known in the craft beer industry since 1990s. John worked with beer-related jobs within his twenty years in brewing and he is extremely thrilled to go back to his roots and offer a local brewery centering on wonderful beers, buddies and fun times. UpCountry Brewing is now located at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and it's a tap room, music venue and a brewery.
UpCountry Brewing can offer a range of beer styles, which will include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and many more. We have got over 20 types of beers on tap and we are still planning to create new beers that everyone will certainly enjoy. UpCountry offers flights, goblets, pints, and even a twenty-two ounce pour in the taproom. In addition, the brewery has beer to go for purchase! Beer to go features a growler with your preference of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Along with the taproom, the beer of UpCountry may be located in several towns and grocery stores, bottle shops and bars located in Asheville, together with the towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding places.
We have got our extensive beer list that's the best for beer nerds everywhere. We value creativity and daring recipes along with those go-to, easy drinking styles that any person can enjoy. We've recently been infusing some of our brews with several syrups and flavors for an additional creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions and a pilot brew system to help take the brewing a step further. We're centering on experimentation and seeing the deliciousness that we can create using the knowledge from every brewer.
Apart from this, we offer delicious beer and UpCountry also offers red and white wines and a full liquor bar of gin, vodka, whiskey, tequila and others. We have got selections for everyone so you do not have to be a full-on beer expert to be able to enjoy our alcohol. Together with liquor, UpCountry offers craft signature cocktails that rotate throughout the year according to the season.
Apart from selling and brewing beer, UpCountry can also offer you a full food menu that may include appetizers, pizzas, salads, soups, hot dogs, burgers and also meals for dogs. We have got dessert selections for the sweet tooths out there, too! Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Even when you are actually on a diet, we will try everything to accommodate you. When you've worked up an appetite hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the ideal place to meet up with friends or family and satisfy your hunger. Together with live music, we host a yoga class on Sunday mornings, music bingo on Wednesdays, and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Each month, UpCountry prefers a different local nonprofit to represent their 'Miracle Pint Night' each Thursday. UpCountry has worked with organizations like Friends of the Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry hosts the pint night with a unique glass that varies week by week. Consumers buy a featured beer and get to keep the glass, with 10 percent of that beer's sales going towards the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is certainly important and the pint nights can be a good way to give back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is always supporting local art and music in Asheville and the surrounding places like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
UpCountry always hosts a local artist monthly together with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will showcase one artist each month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for display and purchase. Apart from a month long campaign, every artist will get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month is present and able to discuss their work, and a pint glass featuring the artist's work is available for purchase. UpCountry will invariably value the support of local music, art and beer and they'll continue to support all of these. Community and business relationships are extremely important to UpCountry's owner, John Cochran, along with the UpCountry staff, so the brewery looks forward to continue Pint Nights like these to support!
UpCountry brewing is proud to offer live, local music almost every night. If you'll take your friends and family members to tourist spots like Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, you may always bring them to UpCountry for a night of Bluegrass, Music bingo, Open Mic, and live local music. We're always proud to host solo musicians like Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We also love hosting those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes! It will include several bands like The Paper Crowns, The Dirty Dead and Phuncle Sam. We're also hosting other bands like Mama Danger, Cat and Crow, Astral Plainsmen, Sirius B., The Dirty Badgers, The Junk Drawer, The Free Wheelin' Mamas, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Moonlight Street Folk and more.
Apart from hosting live music, it's already known that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery is well-known for live streaming music, but is extra attentive to when Phish plays. They pull down the huge projector screen to stream the show and clear the chairs and tables in the music room so everyone can dance. The other known live streams that the brewery is centering on are Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry motivates Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

All of our music can have no cover charge. UpCountry does not want to limit live music to having a cover charge, which is why all of our events are free to the public.

UpCountry Brewing values being family and kid friendly. We have got a massive outdoor patio space with games for the kiddos along with a cornhole set for friends and family to enjoy. Our patio and courtyard are dog friendly, so bring the pup too!
At UpCountry Brewing, we always think that beer and outdoors are associated. UpCountry values the outdoor activities that Asheville has to offer, anything from floating down the river to tackling a strenuous mountain trail. You need to think of UpCountry once you have exited Highway 26 and you coming up to Patton, but you should think of UpCountry when you are trying to find the best beer. We're just right across The Odditorium, which is definitely a West Asheville staple that you may visit before or after you come to our place.
For tourists or just for those passing through, UpCountry offers a welcoming and personable experience. We have got friendly and knowledgeable staff so we all know all about beer. Our beer-tenders are able to offer suggestions based on the types of beer you and your friends enjoy. After all, you did venture to the Beer City Capital of the United States!
UpCountry Brewing can offer beer tours by special request and you may check our website for this. Together with beer tastings and a tour of the new taproom, you'll obtain a guided tour of the brew house and along with a 'Beer 101' crash course in how you can make and produce beer. UpCountry's latest logo re-design is the perfect thanks to the Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done a phenomenal job with developing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are plenty of canning designs on the way so you must stay tuned.
For those who do not know, UpCountry Brewing's owner, John Cochran, is a DAWG Alum! UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Keep an eye out, because Cochran will wear his jersey.
