UpCountry Brewing started in 2016 by John Cochran, known as a craft beer industry veteran since the nineties. UpCountry Brewing is a taproom, brewery and a music venue that you could find at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville. We'd want to state that we're brewing our beer in "West, West Asheville," because it is the brewery found furthest west.
UpCountry Brewing will offer a lot of beer styles, that will include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and more. We've got our extensive beer list that's great for beer nerds everywhere. We value creativity more than anything else as well as daring recipes that everyone will undoubtedly enjoy. We've recently been infusing some of our brews with various syrups and flavors for an additional creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions, as well as a pilot brew system to take brewing an additional step further. If you love sweets, we've got different dessert choices available for you. Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Even when you are on a diet, we are going to do our best to accommodate you. We've got plenty of choices for the whole family, as well as kid-friendly and dog friendly menu for friends and family to enjoy.
When you've worked up an appetite hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the ideal place to meet up with friends or family and satisfy your hunger. Apart from live music, we have a yoga class during Sunday, music bingo on Wednesday and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Every month, UpCountry will choose a different local nonprofit that will represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry already worked with different organizations like Friends of the Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School.
During Thursdays, UpCountry will be hosting the pint night together with a unique glass. Consumers can buy a featured beer and they're going to be able to keep the glass. The 10 percent of the sales of that beer will go to the featured nonprofit organization. Community is important for UpCountry as they consider their pint nights as a strategy to give back to the community.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing helps local art and music in Asheville and close, surrounding areas, like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist monthly with Bad Craft, an artist shop located in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will showcase one artist each month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for display and purchase. Apart from the month long campaign, the artist will also get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month is present and able to discuss their work, and a pint glass featuring the artist's work is available for purchase. UpCountry values the support of local art, music, and beer, and will continue to show their support for all of these avenues of Asheville. Community and business relationships are extremely important to UpCountry's owner, John Cochran, as well as the UpCountry staff, so the brewery anticipates continue Pint Nights like these to support!
UpCountry brewing is proud to give live, local music every night. If you are going to take your friends and family members to tourist spots like Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, you could always bring them to UpCountry for a night of Bluegrass, Music bingo, Open Mic, and live local music. Apart from hosting live music, it's already known that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery was noted for live streaming music, but it's responsive to Phish plays. They usually pull down the big projector screen to stream each show and clear out the chairs and tables in the music room so that Asheville can dance it out! The other known live streams that the brewery is focusing on are Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry motivates Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

We offer all our music with no cover charge. UpCountry doesn't want to limit the live music to have a cover charge, which is the reason why our events are free to public.

UpCountry Brewing is noted for being family and kid friendly. We've got a big outdoor patio space with games intended for children and a cornhole set for friends and family to enjoy. Our patio as well as courtyard are also dog friendly.

UpCountry Brewing always value the outdoor activities that Asheville will offer from floating down the river to trying the mountain trail. UpCountry Brewing offers beer tours by special request. Just check our website for information! Together with beer tastings and a tour of the new taproom, you could get a guided tour of the brew house and a crash course about how you could make and produce beer. UpCountry's latest logo re-design is the perfect thanks to the Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done an exceptional job with designing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. You have to stay tuned since there are several more canning designs which are on the way.
If you don't have any idea yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is actually a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Keep an eye out, because Cochran will wear his jersey.
