UpCountry Brewing was first set up in 2016 by craft beer industry veteran John Cochran. John already has lots of beer-related jobs within his 20 years in brewing and he is extremely excited to acquire back to his roots by providing a small, local brewery focusing on good friends, wonderful beers and fun times.
UpCountry Brewing is a brewery, taproom, and music venue found at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville. We like to claim that we brew our beer in "West, West Asheville," as it's the brewery located furthest west prior to leaving Beer City itself.
UpCountry Brewing can provide lots of beer styles, that could include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and more. We have got over 20 kinds of beers on tap and we are still seeking to produce new beers that everyone will unquestionably enjoy. UpCountry Brewing will offer flights, pints, goblets and also a 22-once pour in the taproom. Also, the brewery has beer to go ready for purchase. When you've worked up an appetite hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the perfect place to meet up with friends or family and satisfy your hunger. After consuming your lunch, dinner, or snack, enjoy corn hole or one of the many activities we have scheduled at the brewery. Aside from live music, we have a yoga class during Sunday, music bingo on Wednesday and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Every month, UpCountry can pick a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry definitely worked with different organizations before like Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry hosts the pint night with a unique glass that varies week by week. Consumers buy a featured beer and get to keep the glass, with ten percent of that beer's sales going towards the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is important, and these pint nights are just one method for the brewery to provide back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is definitely supporting local art and music in Asheville and all the surrounding areas including Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
In house, UpCountry hosts a local artist of the month with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will showcase one artist each month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for display and purchase. Aside from a month long campaign, every artist will get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month can present and also discuss their work along a pint glass featuring the work of the artist. UpCountry will always value the support of local music, art and beer and they will continue to support all of these. Community and business relationships are extremely important to UpCountry's owner, John Cochran, as well as the UpCountry staff, so the brewery anticipates continue Pint Nights like these to support!
UpCountry brewing is always proud to offer live, local music on a nightly basis. Other bands that we love to host include The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
Aside from live music, it's not a secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery is well-known for live streaming music, but is extra attentive to when Phish plays. They pull down the big projector screen to stream the show and clear the chairs and tables in the music room so everyone can dance. The other known live streams that the brewery is focusing on are Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry encourages Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy some brews, and boogie!

All of our music may have no cover charge. UpCountry doesn't want to limit live music to having a cover charge, which is why all of our events are free to the public.

UpCountry Brewing values being family and kid friendly. We have got a big outdoor patio space with games designed for children and a cornhole set for friends and family to enjoy. Our patio and courtyard is also dog friendly so bring them with you.
At UpCountry Brewing, we believe that beer and the outdoors go in conjunction. UpCountry Brewing always value the outdoor activities that Asheville can provide from floating down the river to trying the mountain trail. Our outdoor space is a favorite hangout spot for Asheville residents and visitors alike.

UpCountry Brewing offers beer tours by special request. Just check our website for info! Along with beer tastings and a tour of the new taproom, you may get a guided tour of the brew house and a crash course about how you may make and produce beer. Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design is the best thanks to the Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done an outstanding job with designing the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. There are plenty of canning designs on the way so you have to stay tuned.
If you don't have any idea yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is definitely a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Keep an eye out, because Cochran will wear his jersey.
