UpCountry Brewing started in 2016 by John Cochran, who is referred to as a craft beer industry veteran since the mid 90s. John actually worked alongside different beer-related jobs in more than 20 years in the brewing industry and he is excited to go back and create a small, local brewery concentrating on wonderful beers, fun times and good friends. UpCountry Brewing may offer plenty of beer styles, that may include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and more. We have over 20 kinds of beers on tap and we are still looking to create new beers that everyone will undoubtedly enjoy. UpCountry Brewing can provide flights, pints, goblets and also a 22-once pour in the taproom. In addition, the brewery has beer to go for purchase! Beer to go includes a growler with your selection of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. We have been infusing a lot of our brews with different syrups and flavors that will offer an extra creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions, in addition to a pilot brew system to take brewing an extra step further. We're concentrating on experimentation and seeing the deliciousness that we can create using the knowledge from every brewer.

We have got dessert selections for the sweet tooths out there, too! Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Even if you're on a diet, we are going to do our best to accommodate you. We have a lot selections for the whole family and we even have kid-friendly and dog-friendly meals.

When you've worked up an appetite hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the best place to meet up with friends or family and satisfy your hunger. After consuming your lunch, dinner, or snack, enjoy corn hole or one of the many activities we've got scheduled at the brewery. Along with live music, we host a yoga class on Sunday mornings, music bingo on Wednesdays, and local pint nights on Thursdays.

Community

Each month, UpCountry can be picking a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry already worked different organizations like Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry hosts the pint night with a unique glass that varies week by week. Consumers will undoubtedly buy a featured beer and they can keep the glass. The 10 percent of the sales can be going to the nonprofit orgs. At UpCountry, community is important, and these pint nights are just one method for the brewery to provide back.

Local Art And Music

UpCountry Brewing is definitely supporting local art and music in Asheville and all the surrounding locations like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.

UpCountry always hosts a local artist monthly together with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery showcases one artist every month to display their artwork in UpCountry's taproom for display in addition to for purchase. Along with a month long campaign, each artists gets a designated Pint Night at the brewery in addition to at Bad Craft. The artist of the month can show and discuss their work and a pint glass feature the work of the artist can be available. We like to host solo musicians like Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We're even hosting those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. It'll include different bands like The Dirty Dead, The Paper Crowns and Phuncle Sam. We have got other bands that we love to host like The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.

Apart from live music, it's not a secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery is well-known for live streaming music, but is extra attentive to when Phish plays. They usually pull down the large projector screen to stream each show and clear out the chairs and tables in the music room so that Asheville can dance it out! Other live streams the brewery is definitely known for could include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry will invariably encourage Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy brews and boogie.

UpCountry's latest logo re-design have been the best and it's all thanks to Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg have done a phenomenal job with creating the labeling artwork for UpCountry's Hop Dread, Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, and UpCo Mountain Lager. You need to stay tuned because there are several more canning designs which are on the way.

Georgia Bulldogs

If you don't know yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has now become a go to spot in Asheville in watching the Georgia Bulldogs. You need to keep an eye out because Cochran will undoubtedly wear his jersey.
