The mission of UpCountry Brewing is to help produce great experiences and share our passion in crafting beer, local music and more. We do this by focusing on the Carolina mountain region where we're currently residing.

UpCountry Brewing started in 2016 by John Cochran, referred to as a craft beer industry veteran since the 1990s. John has worked a lot of beer-related jobs in his 20+ years in brewing (including co-founding Terrapin Beer Company), and he is excited to acquire back to his roots by offering a small, local brewery with a spotlight on fun times, good friends, and great beers.

UpCountry Brewing is a taproom, brewery and a music venue that you may find at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville. We like to state that we brew our beer in "West, West Asheville," as it is the brewery located furthest west before leaving Beer City itself.

UpCountry Brewing can provide a range of beer styles, which would include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and much more. With about 20 of its own beers on tap, the brew house is thinking about making new beers for everyone to enjoy. UpCountry Brewing can provide flights, pints, goblets and also a 22-once pour in the taproom. In addition, the brewery has beer to go for purchase! Beer to go includes a growler with your choice of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. In addition to availability in the taproom, UpCountry's beer can be found all over town in various grocery stores, bottle shops, and bars in Asheville, including towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding areas.

We have our extensive beer list that is great for beer nerds everywhere. We value creativity more than anything else as well as daring recipes that everyone will unquestionably enjoy. We are infusing some of our brews with various syrups and flavors which will offer an extra creative kick. The brewery also includes a Randall for infusions and also a pilot brew system to take the brewing a step further. We're all about experimenting and seeing what deliciousness we can produce using the knowledge from each brewer!

In addition to brewing and selling delicious beer, UpCountry offers a full food menu featuring appetizers, pizzas, burgers, salads, hot dogs, soups, and even meals for dogs. If you love sweets, we also have different dessert choices available for you. Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Even when you're actually on a diet, we're going to do everything to accommodate you. We have plenty of selections for the entire family, as well as kid-friendly and dog friendly menu for friends and family to enjoy.

When you have worked up an appetite by hiking at the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the best place to meet with your friends and satisfy your hunger. Community

Every month, UpCountry could be picking a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry already worked various organizations such as Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry could be hosting the pint night with a unique glass that can change every week. Customers can buy a featured beer and they could also keep the glass, with 10 percent profit going to the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is absolutely important and these pint nights could be a way for the brewery to give back.

Local Art And Music

UpCountry Brewing is definitely supporting local art and music in Asheville and all the surrounding areas such as Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.

UpCountry always hosts a local artist monthly along with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery could be presenting one artist a month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for purchase and display. Apart from the month long campaign, the artist will also get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month can display and discuss their work and a pint glass feature the work of the artist could be available. UpCountry will always support the local music, art and beer in your community and will carry on doing this in the future. Community and business relationships are incredibly important to UpCountry's owner, John Cochran, as well as the UpCountry staff, so the brewery looks forward to continue Pint Nights like these to support!

Music

UpCountry brewing is proud to offer live, local music almost every night. If you are going to take your friends and family members to tourist spots such as Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, you may always bring them to UpCountry for a night of Bluegrass, Music bingo, Open Mic, and live local music. We like to host solo musicians such as Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We also love hosting those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes! It's going to include various bands such as The Paper Crowns, The Dirty Dead and Phuncle Sam. We are also hosting other bands like Mama Danger, Cat and Crow, Astral Plainsmen, Sirius B., The Dirty Badgers, The Junk Drawer, The Free Wheelin' Mamas, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Moonlight Street Folk and more.

Apart from live music, it is not a secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery is well-known for live streaming music, but is extra attentive to when Phish plays. They will pull down the big projector screen in order to stream the show and clear all the chairs and tables in the music room so everyone can dance freely. Other live streams the brewery is definitely known for would include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry will always encourage Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy brews and boogie.

We offer all our music with no cover charge. UpCountry doesn't want to limit live music to having a cover charge, which is why all of our events are free to the public.

UpCountry Brewing values being family and kid friendly. We have a massive outdoor patio space with games for the kiddos as well as a cornhole set for friends and family to enjoy. Our patio as well as courtyard are also dog friendly.

UpCountry's latest logo re-design is the best thanks to the Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg did a fantastic job in designing the labeling artwork for Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, UpCo Mountain Lager and Hop Dread. There are plenty of canning designs on the way so you have to stay tuned.

Georgia Bulldogs

If you don't have any idea yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is definitely a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Cochran will unquestionably wear his jersey so you have to keep an eye out.
