UpCountry Brewing started in 2016 by John Cochran and he is known in the craft beer industry since 1990s. John actually dealt with beer-related jobs in his twenty years in brewing and he is extremely thrilled to go back to his roots by offering a small, local brewery centering on fun times, wonderful beers and buddies. UpCountry Brewing is presently found at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and this is a tap room, brewery and a music venue.
UpCountry Brewing can provide a range of beer styles, which will include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and many more. With twenty of its own beers on tap, the brew house is consistently thinking about and making new beers for Asheville to enjoy. UpCountry Brewing can provide goblets, pints, flights and a 22-ounce pour in the taproom. Also, the brewery has beer to go ready for purchase. Beer to go would include a growler with your preference of beer or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Along with the taproom, the beer of UpCountry may be present in several towns and grocery stores, bottle shops and bars located in Asheville, together with the towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding places.
Our extensive beer list is suitable for beer nerds everywhere. We value creativity above all else along with daring recipes that everyone will certainly enjoy. We are infusing some of our brews with several syrups and flavors which will offer an extra creative kick. The brewery also has a Randall for infusions and a pilot brew system to help take the brewing one step further. We're all about experimenting and seeing what deliciousness we can produce using the knowledge from each brewer!
Together with offering delicious beer, UpCountry has red and white wines along with a full liquor bar of whiskey, vodka, gin, tequila, and other spirits for everyone to enjoy. We have choices for everyone so you don't need to be a hard core beer expert in order to enjoy our alcohol. Aside from liquor, UpCountry can provide signature cocktails which will rotate throughout the year based on the season.
Together with brewing and selling delicious beer, UpCountry offers a full food menu featuring appetizers, pizzas, burgers, salads, hot dogs, soups, and even meals for dogs. We even have dessert choices for the folks who love sweets. Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Whatever your dietary restrictions, we are going to do our best to accommodate you! We have plenty of choices for the entire family, along with kid-friendly and dog friendly menu for friends and family to enjoy.
Once you have worked up an appetite by hiking at the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the perfect place to meet with your friends and satisfy your hunger. After eating your dinner, lunch or snack, you can try the corn hole or other activities that we have got scheduled at the brewery. Aside from live music, we also offer yoga class during Sunday, music bingo on Wednesday and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Each month, UpCountry can be picking a local nonprofit to represent their "Miracle Pint Night" every Thursday. UpCountry has worked with organizations including Friends of the Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry will host the pint night with a unique glass that could be changed every week. Consumers will certainly buy a featured beer and they can keep the glass. The 10 percent of the sales can be going to the nonprofit orgs. At UpCountry, community is certainly important and the pint nights can be a great strategy to give back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is definitely supporting local art and music in Asheville and all the surrounding places including Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
UpCountry always hosts a local artist monthly together with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery will showcase one artist each month to display their artwork at the taproom of UpCountry for display and purchase. Aside from a month long campaign, every artist will get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month can present and discuss their work and a pint glass feature the work of the artist can be available. UpCountry will invariably value the support of local music, art and beer and they're going to continue to support all of these. Community and business relationships are really important to UpCountry's owner, John Cochran, along with the UpCountry staff, so the brewery looks forward to continue Pint Nights like these to support!
UpCountry brewing is proud to give live, local music every night. Once you've taken the friends and family to the tourist spots like Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, bring them down to UpCountry for an intimate night of Bluegrass, Open Mic, Music Bingo, or live local music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. We like to host solo musicians including Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We even host those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes. These include bands like Phuncle Sam, The Paper Crowns, and The Dirty Dead. Other bands that we love to host include The Junk Drawer, Mama Danger, the Free Wheelin' Mamas, Cat and Crow, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Astral Plainsmen, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Sirius B., Moonlight Street Folk, The Dirty Badgers, and several more.
Aside from live music, it is not a secret that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery has been known for live streaming music, but it is extra attention to when Phish plays. They pull down the huge projector screen to stream the show and clear the chairs and tables in the music room so everyone can dance. Other live streams the brewery is known for include Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry will invariably encourage Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy brews and boogie.

All of our music can have no cover charge. UpCountry does not want to limit the live music to have a cover charge, which is the reason why our events are free to public.

UpCountry Brewing values being family and kid friendly. We have a huge outdoor patio space with games that are made for children and also a cornhole set for the entire family to enjoy. Our patio and courtyard are dog friendly, so bring the pup too!
At UpCountry Brewing, we always think that beer and outdoors are related. UpCountry values the outdoor activities that Asheville has to offer, anything from floating down the river to tackling a strenuous mountain trail. A lot of Asheville residents and visitors love to stay at our outdoor space.

UpCountry Brewing values being that brewery nested in West Asheville for locals to enjoy along with a stop right off of Interstate 40 for tourists and visitors. It is found on Haywood Road in West Asheville and it is surrounded by thousands of neighbors and are incredibly proud to be their "neighborhood bar" for parties, gatherings or simply having beer with friends.
Think of UpCountry when you've exited Highway 26 and you're coming up Patton... but especially think of UpCountry when you're craving a cold, craft beer. We are just right across The Odditorium, which is definitely a West Asheville staple that you can visit before or after you come to our place.
For tourists or just for those passing through, UpCountry offers a welcoming and personable experience. We have a friendly and certified staff so we all know everything about beer. We have our beer-tenders which will offer suggestions based on the kind of beer that you would like. It is known as the Beer City Capital of the United States.
UpCountry Brewing can provide beer tours by special request and you can check our website for this. Together with beer tastings and a tour of the new taproom, you'll receive a guided tour of the brew house and along with a 'Beer 101' crash course in the way to make and produce beer. Together with the beer making process, you'll determine what UpCountry's equipment does, and how each beer is brewed, from the recipe invention to kegging out the finished product in either cans or kegs.

Good Beer Hunting
UpCountry's latest logo re-design is the perfect thanks to the Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg did an excellent job in developing the labeling artwork for Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, UpCo Mountain Lager and Hop Dread. There are several more canning designs on the way, so stay tuned for what UpCountry and Good Beer Hunting come up with!
If you don't know yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. Keep an eye out, because Cochran will wear his jersey.
