Transylvania NAACP: Our Helping Hand Nonprofit for November
In order to elevate our community support to the next level, we are creating a new monthly program called UpCo/Grata Helping Hand. (UpCo for UPcountry COmmunity. Grata for GRATEFUL.) Here's how it will work: UpCo/Grata Helping Hand will operate in both the West Asheville and Brevard taprooms. Each month we will choose a cause or organization to support. Throughout that month, we will donate a portion of our sales from all three of our business avenues to the nonprofit. We will also encourage/accept direct donations. Now, let's talk about November's Helping Hand campaign, the Transylvania County NAACP:
Since 1909, NAACP has been a leader in the fight against racism and for equality and justice. Early campaigns were around the hate crime of lynching and racist depictions of African-Americans in film and theater. Current struggles are to secure voting rights, enact criminal justice reform and protect Black lives. Working to realize the vision of a society in which all individuals have equal rights. Today, the NAACP is bringing together lifelong residents and newcomers of every background, age, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation and gender identity in pursuit of that mission.
