UpCountry Brewing started by John Cochran in 2016 and he is popularly known as one of the best in the craft beer industry since nineteen nineties. John actually dealt with beer-related jobs in his twenty years in brewing and he is very excited to go back to his roots by providing a small, local brewery centering on fun times, great beers and good friends. UpCountry Brewing is now located at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville and it is a tap room, music venue and a brewery.
UpCountry Brewing can provide a range of beer styles, which would include saisons, IPAs, sours, porters, stouts and many more. With about 20 of its own beers on tap, the brew house is thinking about making new beers for everyone to enjoy. UpCountry offers flights, goblets, pints, and even a twenty-two ounce pour in the taproom. In addition, the brewery has beer to go for purchase! Beer to go features a growler with your preference of beer, or cans of the Mangose, UpCo Lager, Hop Dread Red IPA, or Bogey Free Session IPA. Together with availability in the taproom, UpCountry's beer can be found all over town in several grocery stores, bottle shops, and bars in Asheville, including towns like Woodfin, Waynesville, Canton, Candler, Black Mountain, Arden, Hendersonville, Weaverville, and surrounding places.
We've got our extensive beer list that's the best for beer nerds everywhere. We value creativity above all else along with daring recipes that everyone will unquestionably enjoy. We've recently been infusing a lot of our brews with several syrups and flavors for an extra creative kick. The brewery also includes a Randall for infusions and also a pilot brew system to take the brewing a step further. We are centering on experimentation and seeing the deliciousness that we can create using the knowledge from every brewer.
Together with providing delicious beer, UpCountry has red and white wines along with a full liquor bar of whiskey, vodka, gin, tequila, and other spirits for everyone to enjoy. You don't have to be a hard core beer lover to enjoy alcohol at our place-we've got options for everyone! Apart from liquor, UpCountry could also offer signature cocktails that will rotate throughout the year based on the season.
Together with brewing and selling delicious beer, UpCountry offers a full food menu featuring appetizers, pizzas, burgers, salads, hot dogs, soups, and even meals for dogs. We've got dessert options for the sweet tooths out there, too! Our wide menu variety offers something for everyone! We're also vegan and gluten-free friendly. Even if you're on a diet, we're going to do our best to accommodate you. We have plenty of options for the entire family, along with kid-friendly and dog friendly menu for friends and family to enjoy.
When you have worked up an appetite hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway or floating down the French Broad River, UpCountry is the ideal place to connect with family or friends and satisfy your hunger. After eating your dinner, lunch or snack, you could try the corn hole or other activities that we've got scheduled at the brewery. Together with live music, we host a yoga class on Sunday mornings, music bingo on Wednesdays, and local pint nights on Thursdays.
Each month, UpCountry selects a different local nonprofit to represent their 'Miracle Pint Night' each Thursday. UpCountry already worked several organizations for example Smokies, Habitat for Humanity, LEAF, Asheville Humane Society, and The Rainbow School. On Thursdays, UpCountry will be hosting the pint night with a unique glass that will change every week. Customers buy a featured beer and get to keep the glass, with 10 percent of that beer's sales going towards the featured nonprofit. At UpCountry, community is important, and these pint nights are just one method for the brewery to provide back.
Local Art And Music
UpCountry Brewing is always supporting local art and music in Asheville and the surrounding places like Black Mountain, Woodfin, East Asheville, and the River Arts District.
UpCountry always hosts a local artist monthly together with Bad Craft, an artist shop in Black Mountain, NC. The brewery showcases one artist each month to display their artwork in UpCountry's taproom for display along with for purchase. Apart from a month long campaign, every artist will get a designated Pint Night at the brewery and Bad Craft. The artist of the month is there and able to discuss their work, and a pint glass featuring the artist's work is available for purchase. UpCountry will invariably support the local music, art and beer in your community and will continue to do this in the foreseeable future. Community and business relationships are important for John Cochran, the owner of UpCountry, together with the support of the staff so the brewery will invariably look ahead to continue the Pint Nights.
UpCountry brewing is proud to offer live, local music almost every night. Once you've taken the friends and family to the tourist spots like Biscuit Head, Nine Mile, and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, bring them down to UpCountry for an intimate night of Bluegrass, Open Mic, Music Bingo, or live local music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. We like to host solo musicians for example Dave Desmelik, Anya Hinkle, Old Sap, Stephen Horvath, Robin Lewis, Nikki Forbes, Scott Stetson, and more. We also love hosting those Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead Tributes! It will include several bands for example The Paper Crowns, The Dirty Dead and Phuncle Sam. We are also hosting other bands like Mama Danger, Cat and Crow, Astral Plainsmen, Sirius B., The Dirty Badgers, The Junk Drawer, The Free Wheelin' Mamas, Kaizen with Jeff Sipe, Cyndi Lou and The Want to, Moonlight Street Folk and more.
Apart from hosting live music, it is already known that UpCountry Brewing is a bunch of hardcore Phish fans. The brewery is known for live streaming music, but it is extra focus on when Phish plays. They will pull down the huge projector screen in order to stream the show and clear all the chairs and tables in the music room so everyone can dance freely. The other known live streams that the brewery is centering on are Widespread Panic, Dead and Co., and Umphrey's McGee. UpCountry will invariably encourage Asheville to bring some friends, enjoy brews and boogie.

We offer all of our music with NO cover charge. UpCountry does not want to limit live music to having a cover charge, which is why all of our events are free to the public.

UpCountry Brewing offers beer tours by special request. Just check our website for information! Together with beer tastings and a tour of the new taproom, you are going to receive a guided tour of the brew house and along with a 'Beer 101' crash course in how you can make and produce beer. UpCountry's latest logo re-design is the ideal thanks to the Good Beer Hunting in Chicago, IL. Designers Michael Kiser, Cooper Foszcz, and Mike Duesenberg did a great job in developing the labeling artwork for Mangose, Isoprene Hazy IPA, UpCo Mountain Lager and Hop Dread. There are several more canning designs on the way, so stay tuned for what UpCountry and Good Beer Hunting come up with!
If you do not have any idea yet, the owner of UpCountry Brewing is definitely a DAWG Alum. UpCountry has become a go-to spot in Asheville for watching the Georgia Bulldogs games. You should keep an eye out because Cochran will unquestionably wear his jersey.
